Obama pledges aid to Afghanistan

Obama met Afghan President Hamid Karzai on a trip to assess the international effort against a deadly extremist insurgency. No details were immediately released of the meeting but an official in Karzai's office confirmed to AFP that it had taken place. Obama, who has accused Karzai's administration of being in a "bunker", and two US senators accompanying him started the day with breakfast with US troops in Kabul at a US military camp in the capital.
