KGB Archiver 1.2 Review

Zipping files or folders in KGB format or any other format in KGB Archiver is a child’s play. Just select Compress files option from the main page of the KGB Archive software and click next. Fill up the archive name, format (KGB or Zip), specify password if you want, choose compression level (This will reflect the archived file size and also the time required for the archiving task; the smaller the archived file size the greater will be the time required)

There is an option called Create sfx module. When selected, the software will createa SFX (Self Extracting File) for windows.

Just select the files and folders you want to archive and click next. That’s all. Your archived file will be created.

To decompress the archived files, just select Decompress option and point out the archived file and select where you want to extract the files and click next. The decompression process of the archived file will takes place.

One of the advantages of KGB Archiver is also AES-256 encryption which is used to encrypt the archives protected by a password. This is one of the strongest encryptions known for human. So if you are concerned about privacy and security of the archived files, then there is no problem using KGB archive.

Unfortunately although its powerful compression rate, KGB format has high hardware requirements and compressing and decompressing process takes a very very long time.

So I recommend you to not to go for KGB format unless you have a very strong system and lots of time and your primary goal is to reduce the file size. It is often believed that KGB format offers so compression that it can reduce a 700 MB file to 1 MB. But the compression and decompression will take days together.

Final touch: It’s worth using this software. But the high hardware requirements and long processing time for KGB format files has caused serious drawbacks in its progress and popularity. We can se KGB Archiver for other file formats but there are other free software’s which does the same task such as 7 zip etc.,
